Announcing Basics of California Law for LMFTs, LPCCs, and LCSWs – 5th edition

February 27, 2018February 26, 2018 by Ben Caldwell

Basics of California Law for LMFTs, LPCCs, and LCSWs - 5th ed coverIt’s a sea change. And we don’t just mean the cover, which finally lets go of the pathway-in-the-forest image that graced the first four editions. The fifth edition of Basics of California Law for LMFTs, LPCCs, and LCSWs, which is available now for preorder, is the biggest change since I wrote the first one.

The new edition is updated to 2018 law and professional ethics codes, and includes new material on:

  • Employment Law, including wages, sick leave, termination, and more
  • Family Law, including marriage, separation and divorce, custody, and more
  • Supervision, including supervisors’ legal responsibilities
  • Technology
  • Antitrust
  • Some of the biggest current controversies in state law for psychotherapists

We’ve also significantly reorganized the remaining material, making chapters more focused. For example, where we once had a chapter on Scope of Practice and another on Licensure Requirements, we now have a chapter on Licensure and a chapter on Supervision.

This also is our most-referenced edition ever, with more than 500 footnotes detailing the specific locations of specific statutes and regulations within state law.

Basics of California Law for LMFTs, LPCCs, and LCSWs is used as a required text in Law & Ethics courses at graduate programs around the state. (If you’re an instructor and are interested in a review copy, click here.) It’s also great for those prepping for their Law & Ethics Exams. And it’s a valuable desk reference for registered and licensed clinicians who want a fantastic legal resource available to them any time they need.

Through this Friday, March 2, you can preorder the new edition and get 20% off. Just order through our site here and using coupon code HI5 at checkout.*

Basics has always been good. This edition is the best it’s ever been. If you haven’t ordered before, now is the time. Check it out.

* – Limit one per customer, expires 11:59 pm Pacific time March 2. Cannot be combined with other offers.
